Chicago Triathlon

The Chicago Triathlon is one of the nation’s largest, historic, and attractive races. Located along the legendary Great Lakes Region, this race has one of the most scenically beautiful cities.

This triathlon is an Olympic distance race including a 1.5km swim, 40k cycle, and a 10k run. There are also relay registrations available for 2-3 person teams and sprint distance races.

If you are a competitive participant or have the desire to challenge yourself, the Chicago Triathlon is the race for you. Participants have a great opportunity to enjoy Chicago’s attractions.

There is also a mini or sprint distance triathlon. The start line is the same for both the international and sprint races. The swimmers head directly north, and end 100 yards south of the Chicago Yacht Club.

The only difference is that the international race swimmers have to swim out to a buoy 380 yards out from the start line. The first transition after exiting the water consists of a 450 yard run to the transition area to prepare for the cycling leg.

There are nice lodging accommodations in the area for those participating in the Chicago Triathlon. The Hilton Chicago is once of the best with historic luxury and awesome amenities. This is a great location if you want to enjoy the nearby museums, theaters, and clubs.

If you are arriving by airplane to the O’Hare or Midway Airports there is hassle-free transportation to the Hilton Chicago.

The Airport Express will transport you and your bike for just $37 from Midway (round-trip) or $49 from O’Hare (round-trip). Shuttles come every 5-10 minutes. The shuttle is conveniently located at ground transportation terminals in both airports.

Registration is available to anyone 15 years or older, who can safely complete the race in the allotted time. However, participants under 18 years old will need parental permission.

Each participant needs to pick up their race packet before the race day. There is no race-day registration or packet pick up. If you need to change your entry, there is a $25 change fee.

There are many big sponsors for the Chicago Triathlon. Some of them include Toyota, McDonalds, Gatorade, American Airlines, Jennie-O, Fleet Feet Sports, Polar, and many others.
