Danskin Triathlon

The Danskin Triathlon is the largest and longest running event in multi-sport history. This particular event is only open to women between the ages of 14 and 74.

This triathlon includes the traditional events of swimming, biking, and running. To allow many different around the nation and world to participate, this is a traveling triathlon.

It is held in various cities to allow many to join in on the race and fun. There are awards given out for each age group and individuals.

The 2008 race will be the 17th season of the Danskin Triathlon. There are eight cities that have been chosen to participate in the triathlon from May to September.

The cities are Orlando, Florida; San Dimas, California; Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin; Denver, Colorado, Webster, Massachusetts; Seattle, Washington; and Sandy Hook, New Jersey.

This fairly new triathlon is composed of a 0.5 mile swim, 12.5 bike ride, and 3.1 mile run. Danskin also chooses various charities every year to receive ten percent of the entry fees. The official charity chosen for the 2008 Danskin Triathlon is the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

To encourage and support participants in their desire to finish the race, there are free training and racing seminars to help prepare for the race and healthy living.

This is not just limited to training in swimming, biking, and running, but also proper nutrition for triathlon training and life in general.

There is also a Danskin Team Survivor who helps out any cancer survivors who have decided to participate in the race. There are also volunteers in the water during the swim portion to offer encouragement.

This event is a great introduction to triathlon and a great way to test your endurance. If you want to compete only against women and want to get a taste of what a longer race could be like, the Danskin Triathlon could be for you.

If you are already exercising, a race this size won’t require you to take much more time in your workouts. If you can comfortably finish the distances listed above, just try them one after another on a workout and see how you fair.
