Start With a Mini Triathlon

If you are a beginner to the triathlon, the best way for you to experience the race is to register for a mini triathlon.

By doing this you will avoid over-training and get a good idea of what a real triathlon is like. The mini triathlon is still a race and will require preparation and training.

While getting ready for a mini triathlon you will need to think of four different things: your strengths and weaknesses, your goals, and cautions. If you keep these things in mind as you train, you will most likely be happy with yourself as you finish the race.

Your Strengths and Weaknesses

It is important for you to understand your strengths and weaknesses in each sport of the mini triathlon. If you know what your strengths are, it is easier to find a starting point for your training.

If you are a great runner, but have a hard time in the pool, you know you will need to be spending a lot more time swimming than on the track.

Goals

Goals are essential for any sport. Depending on what you know you can achieve and reaching just a little bit further will help you get where you want to go, especially if it across the finish line.

Even though you may be a dreamer, it is important to have realistic goals so you don’t disappoint yourself or end up injured. It is important to ensure that you have a training schedule that pinpoints when, where, and how you are training. Make sure that you also schedule rest. Be dedicated to your plan as best as you can.

Cautions

Make sure that you can create preventative measures for injuries. Before starting any workout, whether it is running, swimming, or biking that you are warmed and stretched. Make sure that you have the appropriate gear for your sports.

It is essential that you remember cycling and running shoes are different. You will want a pair for each respective sport. One other caution you should take into consideration during your mini triathlon training is to make your training gradual. Make plans for good rest and prevent all possible injuries.

Remember that mini triathlons, especially if it is your first one should be fun. Have a great time out there!

This is a very realistic goal for many people who are looking for something new to achieve in their fitness goals. I was planning on posting some motvational guidance toward this end soon, so I will refer to this post.
