What Happens at Triathlon Events?

If you plan on participating in a triathlon, your physical skill, endurance, and speed will be challenged.
Participating in a triathlon can be very difficult, especially since you are practically competing in three different races. Each triathlete must cover the distance of the race with a road race, bicycle tour, and swim meet.
In these triathlon events you are racing against other competitors and the clock. These events take place one after the other with only a brief transition. This quick transition allows participants to only change their uniforms and put on shoes.
The transition doesn’t allow enough time for any long breaks or relaxing. Don’t plan on putting your feet up all during this time.
Triathlons require a lot of training, and challenge an athlete tremendously. Not only do you need to commit to all of the triathlon events, but to yourself when you decide to be a triathlete.
Regardless if it is a sunny or rainy day the race will go on. You need to be a determined person to race in a triathlon not only physically, but also mentally and emotionally. For this reason, it is a good idea to train in all types of weather and terrains.
Depending on what type of triathlon you are participating in, there are different distances. For example, if you were to race in an Olympic triathlon, it requires you to swim 1.5 kilometers, bike 40 kilometers, and run 10 kilometers.
Ironman triathlons on the other hand include a 3.8 kilometer swim, 180 kilometer bike race, and a 42 kilometer run. There are other competitions that have varying distances.
Just be aware of the distances for each of the triathlon events when you register. Some races are shorter than an Olympic race and longer than an Ironman.
Regardless if you participate in an Olympic triathlon or an Ironman, make sure that you make a commitment to yourself and the triathlon events, that you will do your absolute best.
Make sure that you are committed to training and ready to compete in the distances of your race. Competing and finishing a triathlon is a major achievement. Good luck!
