Tips for Women’s Triathlons

First of all, it should be known that some of the most rigorous triathlons, such as the Ironman Triathlon, do not make distinction between genders. However, some women prefer to test their endurance against other females.

It is because of this that there are certain women’s triathlons today. If you are planning to compete in women’s triathlons, here are some tips that you might need:

1) Bring your own bike – certain triathlons do not provide bikes for the use of women during the cycling leg of the triathlon. Because of this, you need to be prepared and bring your own bicycle.

There’s another reason for this: by using a bike that’s familiar to you, you can maximize your performance. Of course, there’s a certain standard that’s set for the bikes used in a women’s triathlon, so be sure to check the rules.

2) Learn and extend your limits – Another great advice would be for you to try and learn just how much you can endure even before the triathlon itself. Some people spend up to 24 hours every week in training for a women’s triathlon.

If this is going to be your first triathlon, don’t push yourself too quickly and make sure that you can finish. Remember to build your endurance up slowly, and keep working one step at a time.

3) You are not required to run – if you aim just to finish, then you have to realize that the marathon leg of women’s triathlons do not have explicit rules stating you have to run.

Whenever you tire out, take a quick break by walking. This way, you8 keep moving, but manage to conserve energy. Of course, there is a time limit, so you need to keep that in mind.

4) There’s a fine line between overhydration and dehydration – you need to keep hydrated, so make sure that your support team brings you plenty of water.

However, you have to know that drinking too much water produces the same symptoms as dehydration: dizziness, nausea.. etc. Make sure that you know where you really stand.

Winning a women’s triathlon takes a lot of effort, but these tips can give you the edge you need to finish the race.
